A fun bag in two sizes (small and mid-sized) with a flat base and zippered front pocket. Lots of options to customize yours, from handles, a crossbody strap, and closure options, will make this bag a multipurpose one you grab again and again.. Learn how to:

  • Work with heavyweight fabrics like canvas, cork or leather
  • Read and understand a complex pattern
  • Create custom features like recessed zipper closure or mesh pocket
  • Sew a zipper pocket
  • Make an optional adjustable crossbody strap

      Sewing Level: Confident Beginner. Suitable for students who have already completed a few sewing projects and want to try something more complex.

      Location: 80 Mary Street, Port Moody

      Includes: 9 hours of instruction and a copy of the pattern. Supplies extra.

      Our store stocks a large selection of fabrics for you to purchase from for this class. Canvas, waxed canvas, denim, tweed, cork and leather are good choices.

      **Please pick up your pattern and purchase your supplies prior to class. We ask that you cut out your fabric pieces before coming to class to allow for the teaching time to focus on the bag construction. Depending on your speed and experience you may need to do some homework between classes.**

      Frequency: Once per week for 3 hours


      Instructor: Leah is a local sewist with many interests. She is a trained traditional kiltmaker, quilter, longarmer, costume designer and dressmaker. Her grandmother taught her embroidery and crewel work as a child. She enjoys spending time with her kids at various highland dance and bagpiping events.
