Learn new quilting skills and make some adorable wee birds.

Perfect for beginner quilters or those with some basic quilting experience.

This class covers: 
  • traditional piecing of corners and triangles
  • cutting fabric accurately with rotary cutter and ruler
  • stitching a consistent 1/4" seam for alignment
  • making HSTs (a basic quilting unit called half square triangles) and snowballed corners
  • creating a pieced pattern in two directions
  • quilting the three layers "quilt sandwich" 

Includes: 9 hours of instruction and the pattern. Supplies extra. Find everything you need and great advice in our store.

 Level Beginner to Confident Beginner
Requirements Some basic quilting experience preferred e.g. have taken our Learn to Quilt class or made a simple patchwork. If you haven't used a sewing machine before take an Intro to Sewing class before taking this class.

 

Instructor: Leah is a local sewist with many interests. She is a trained traditional kiltmaker, quilter, longarmer, costume designer and dressmaker. Her grandmother taught her embroidery and crewel work as a child. She enjoys spending time with her kids at various highland dance and bagpiping events.
