About Us

We’re a friendly, welcoming fabric and sewing store where creativity and learning come first. We believe in doing things right — from how we treat our customers to how we support our team. Our studio team helps students learn new skills, build confidence, and explore new avenues for their quilting and sewing dreams.

Our studio is positive, organized, and customer-focused, and we’re looking for a teacher and administrator who shares our values while bringing warmth, energy, and efficiency to the studio.

About the Role

As a Sewing Teacher & Studio Administrator, you will play a key role in both teaching and the day-to-day operation of our studio. This position is best suited to an experienced sewist or quilter who enjoys sharing their skills and takes pride in keeping a studio organized, well-run, and class-ready. Administrative and studio-support duties are a core and essential part of this role, alongside teaching.

This role is ideal for someone who is friendly, organized, and people-oriented, with a passion for crafts and learning. Training in teaching methods and administrative tasks will be provided.

Key Responsibilities (Teaching and Studio Operations)

Teaching & Class Preparation

  • Teach sewing and/or quilting classes and private lessons (approximately 20 teaching hours per month, negotiable)
  • Prepare for classes, including sewing samples and drafting handouts when needed
  • Create a welcoming, supportive learning environment for students

Studio Administration & Maintenance

  • Take responsibility for maintaining a clean, organized, and fully functional studio environment
  • Perform regular cleaning and basic maintenance of studio sewing machines, including troubleshooting when required
  • Maintain studio supplies, notions, and patterns so they are stocked and class-ready
  • Take an active role in the daily operation of the studio, ensuring classes run smoothly and the space is well-maintained and organized

You’ll Thrive in This Role If You Are:

  • People-Focused: You enjoy helping students learn and grow and are comfortable working with people of different ages, backgrounds and experience levels
  • Friendly & Approachable: You create a welcoming environment where questions are encouraged
  • Organized & Efficient: You understand that great classes depend on strong studio organization — and you enjoy being part of that foundation.
  • Flexible & Solution-Oriented: You adapt easily to busy days or unexpected challenges
  • Passionate About Crafts: You love sewing, quilting, or related creative pursuits and enjoy supporting others in theirs

Skill / Requirements:

  • Sewing experience in garment making and/or quilting
  • Ability to create a welcoming learning environment for adults and/or children
  • Ability to balance high standards with warmth and approachability
  • Willingness to take ownership of studio readiness and smooth daily operations
  • Availability for some weekends and evenings to teach classes (days are flexible)

What We Offer

  • Supportive, welcoming workplace with a community-centred focus
  • Opportunity to work with a passionate, creative team
  • Competitive pay with potential for role growth
  • Access to Stitchery sewing and quilting classes and training to support your creative and professional development
  • The chance to share your love for sewing and quilting with a vibrant community.
