The Stitchery is a combined fabric & haberdashery store with sewing studio where we strive to educate, resource and inspire sewers, quilters and crafters. We pride ourselves on creating a community of makers to whom we offer a unique selection of handpicked fabrics and notions.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a store manager who would work closely with the owner to oversee the day-to-day operations including customer service & sales, staff, and inventory. The ideal candidate is excited about helping our customers realize their sewing, quilting and crafting goals. Retail / sales experience is important and sewing knowledge is an asset.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in retail management, with a proven track record of successfully overseeing store operations
  • Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, and inventory management
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising and coaching a team
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on building and maintaining customer relationships
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse teams and customers
  • Experience in pricing strategies and sales management techniques
  • Sewing or quilting experience is preferred but training is provided. Candidates will be required to show their interest in developing their skills in this area.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the retail store, including inventory management, cleaning and tidying, customer service, etc.
  • Lead and motivate a small team to achieve sales targets and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Utilize retail management skills to optimize store layout and merchandising displays.
  • Implement sales management techniques to drive revenue and meet business goals.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities to effectively supervise staff and ensure smooth store operations.
  • Develop skills in sewing and quilting to better advise our customers.

Hours:

Part time. This job is for 24-30 hours per week. You must be available for some weekday and weekend shifts though flexibility is offered to take time off or swap shifts.

Pay rate: $24 per hour
