Learn the skills to sew with foam and zippers, and make quilted bags.

This big quilted tote is a great way to show off your favourite fabrics. It is easy to access, has sturdy handles, and closes with a zipper.

This class covers how to:

  • create a quilted bag
  • use foam stabilizer and interfacing
  • sew sturdy over-the-shoulder handles for comfort
  • reinforce the base for added durability
  • install a zipper to keep contents secure (which falls flat against the tote for full access)

Sewing Level: Confident Beginner. Perfect for someone who has made a quilt or two (even a placemat or baby quilt), and is confident with their basic sewing machine skills.

Includes: 9 hours of instruction and a copy of the pattern. Supplies extra.

Frequency: Once per week for three weeks.


Leah is a local sewist with many interests. She is a trained traditional kiltmaker, quilter, longarmer, costume designer and dressmaker. Her grandmother taught her embroidery and crewel work as a child. She enjoys spending time with her kids at various highland dance and bagpiping events.


 

Cancellation Policy

Full registration payment is required to reserve your space in a class or event. Cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations made more than 10 days in advance of the class or event will receive a full refund to store credit. For cancellations made less than 10 days in advance: A store credit of 50% of the fee will be given if more than 4 days notice, or if 4 days or less notice from the class time is given then no refund or transfer will be issued.
